“In 1953 or 1954 there was a bank on Texas Avenue, just past Linwood Avenue about 2 blocks past the West End Theater. I was either 8 or 9 when my mother and I happened upon the aftermath of a bank robber having been shot and killed. A large crowd had gathered around, blood was running down the street and the robber had been covered over with newspapers.” ….Billy Smith

Bairnsfather on March 20, 2017 at 11:01 pm (remove) These are great pictures! My husband is one of four owners of Handle-It, Construction. Our offices are located in the old West End Theatre building on Texas Ave. We purchased the building in 1996 and moved in our new company, Handle-It Construction. We added a second floor for our office space. The first floor is still the same as always. You can still see remnants of what was once a really cool place for people to come and watch a movie in the COOL AIR CONDITIONING. 10 cents. The A/C was as much a treat as the movie! We would love to hear any stories of the old Theatre. Pictures would really be a treasure for us. We are all Shreveport natives and love our city. Any information shared with us would be much appreciated. Thanks. Pam B.
