The capacities are much lower in the refitted screens, but Vue has not updated just yet. Screen 4 now seats 51, Screen 5 now seats 30.
As of next Monday (December 9th), the first upgraded screens will re-open. These will include new Ultra Lux seats, the first Vue to have them in the country, as well as the first to have a self-serve retail area (I’m less enamoured by). Projection and sound are also being upgraded. https://theswindonian.co.uk/news/vue-swindon-undergoes-exciting-transformation/
Currently still open while it has having a massive refit to upgrade to Vue’s trademark reclining seats at last. (Which I would have thought they’d do before it opened, but oh well.)
Will officially re-open as a Vue cinema on December 8th, timed for the UK release of Wonka: https://www.myvue.com/cinema/swindon
A premises notice suggests that Vue is planning to take over this site soon (opening date unconfirmed). https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-wiltshire-67073326
Now closed due to Empire entering administration as of yesterday.
The former Screen 1 has been converted into an IMAX screen.
