The Grove Movie was located in the second floor of an office building and played mostly experimental, foreign language, classics and offbeat films. Although mostly 16mm, some of the films were local premieres and were reviewed as such. It was a center of the Coconut Grove hippie culture.
It was operating from 1970 as the Intermedia and closed in 1977. It overlapped and was later replaced by the Grove Cinema on Grand Avenue.

I saw Pink Flamingos here when I was 17 years old in 1974. I remember the floor was wooden and uncarpeted.
As a legitimate theatre this was called the Upstage.
Back in the 1990’s I was driving with a Miccosukee Indian friend I had at the time when we approached Virginia Street from Florida Avenue and he told me while in the intersection facing the Coco Walk parking garage that a cinema had once existed there decades before.
