View looking down High Street July 1938. Near left the hairdresser shop has now changed to Doric confectionery and newsagents. The Doric cinema and restaurant are open. Above the entrance and set between the restaurant arched windows are four large lantern lights to illuminate the front of the cinema area at night, with a Cafe sign fixed either side of the Doric lettering, these also were illuminated at night. When WW2 commenced the lanterns and cafe signs were removed and never reinstated.
