Elysium Theatre

Built in 1913 by W. H. Scott the theatre was, according to the September 20 1913 addtion of Oceanside Blade "… equal of any of the small playhouses in cities as large as San Diego…" It opened officially Monday September 17 1913 to a packed house, which filled all of the theatre’s 355 seats. Designed by Henry Lord Gay (from San Diego) and built by F.W. Reike, the edifice boasted folding seats, that were "handsomely upholstered", good ventilation. controlled lighting and fire proof construction.

The Elysium Theatre was closed on January 22, 1927.

This listing puts the theater on Second Street until 1925. Second Street may later have become Mission Avenue.
