This is the first cinema to operate in the Hertfordshire town of Bishop’s Stortford for over 23-years, since the closure of the Regent/Granada in 1977.
The 6-screen Cineworld opened on 8th December 2000. Seating capacities in the screens ranges from 299, down to 104.
It was taken over by Empire Cinemas Ltd. in late-2006 and re-branded Empire. It was closed on 6th July 2023 due to Empire Cinemas UK entering into administration.
In August 2025 it was announced that Roxy Movies chain based in Middlesbrough have taken over and will reopen later in 2025.

Reports that it is re-open in 2025 by Roxy Cinemas of Middlesbrough. It is listed on their website.
