The 13-screen Virgin multiplex cinemas opened on 3rd April 1998 and are located off Bristol Road South in the southwest Birmingham district of Rubery. In 2004 it was taken over by UGC, followed shortly afterwards in 2005 by Cineworld.
Empire Cinemas UK took over in late-2006 and it was re-named Empire Cinema. Seating capacities in the screens range from 523, down to 82. On 6th July 2023 the Empire Cinemas UK went into administration. However they kept the Great Park cinema open. On 4th December 2023 the Ireland based Omniplex Cinemas Group took over the Empire Cinemas UK chain and the Birmingham Great Park cinema was renamed Omniplex Birmingham Great Park on 6th December 2023.

When this cinema first opened it was the only multiplex to have all screens THX certified in the UK. Sadly when UGC took over the Virgin group, they did not bother with THX anymore.
This is one of three Empire Cinemas locations, following on from the Empire Leicester Square, that will have an IMAX screen:

According to Empire’s Auditorium Information page, Screen 7 will be the IMAX screen, and is due to open June 11 for Jurassic World.
Does anyone happen to know the measurements of the IMAX screen at this cinema?
