News About This Theater
- Dec 9, 2009 — Seats / Chairs needed at Globe Theatre
The New Theatre was built in 1935 by the Bertram Amusement Company and had an original seating capacity for 340. By 1941 it had been renamed Globe Theatre. It was sold in 1943 and continued to run under various owners until the late-1980’s.
In 2006 this unique old theatre was still standing, for sale and had a cut stone facade possibly of granite. The boarded up ticket booth and entrance were recessed into the front of the building. There were probably two movie poster frames on each side of the entrance along with one frame on each side of the front. Above the entrance were three windows with broken panes and a metal frame that must have housed a sign.
In 2009, it was purchased by new owners and restoration began to return the theatre to its original Art Deco style. It was completed and reopened November 27, 2015.

G Shockley’s 2006 photo of the Bertram Theater in Bertram.
Here’s a 2004 view of the GLOBE: http://www.boxsetgallery.com/stein/index2.html
After seeing photos like this I almost think I’d prefer the building demolished. I always feel for abandoned buildings but they seem to stand more of a chance for revalization than one of the thousands of shuttered theatres. The Patchogue Plaza is the most glaring Long Island example.
Good news… Went by today on Jan 30th, 2001 and it looks like restoration is still in progress. All new windows up top, and the beat up old Globe sign is hanging once again, but not restored. Looking much better…….
Bertram Globe Theater
I screwed up the date once again. I am good at that. Yes, the photo was taken yesterday. Bertram isn’t too far from me, I’ll be checking back with more progress.
Hello! The theatre is currently owned by Zach Hamilton, Lance Regier, and his wife Jordan. They are restoring this treasure to be open in the near future. Please come by for a show later on! It is sure to be unforgetable.
We are over half way complete on the restoration. Take a look at some of these restoration pictures:

The restoration is nearly done. Looks great inside and out. A few finishing touches to be done but it is operational and is lovely to look at. See photos at https://flic.kr/p/BUU7TZ

I stumbled upon this gem today and nice to see it has been restored. Seems to be used for local live events.
