Opened in April 1928, it was built and operated by a German architect and is located in the German Colony district of Jerusalem. It served the British army until 1935 when it became a commercial cinema, re-named Orient Cinema.
The German owner handed it over the Jewish operators in late 1935, due to a ban by the Nazis, on Germans operating Jewish businesses.
It was renovated in 1993 and is now part of the Lev Cinema chain.
It has a bar/cafe adjoining, and food/drinks can be taken into the cinema.
