Red Run Drive-In

Located in Rouzerville, near Waynesboro, PA. The Red Run Drive-In was opened on July 20, 1951 with Rory Calhoun in “County Fair”. At last knowledge, the marquee and concession stand were still in existence. Any additional information is welcome.

I have a flyer from the Red Run Drive In. Not sure what yr it is from but it is for a week of X-Rated adult shows, some in color. Very interesting.

I couldn’t find a Sunshine Trail in Rouzerville, nor could I find the drive-in on a topographical map.

The theater’s entry at Drive-Ins.com http://www.drive-ins.com/theater/patredr has a small, out-of-focus aerial photo. My guess is that Sunshine Trail is/was a just a service road to access the theater.

Using Google Earth, the drive-in was located on Mentzer Lane behind the buildings located at 12243 E. Buchanan Trail. The land was redeveloped sometime between 1994 and 2003, though a faint outline of the theater remains.

This property has been a tire dealer for years, possibly since the drive-in closed. The marquee is still there and in good shape, most of the time it simply reads “tire sale” and can easily be seen with street view. The entrance and exit roads are clearly visible. The snack bar and projection building is also still used, although I’m not sure in what capacity, also visible with Google earth.
