I don’t have any childhood memories of this theatre. I only went as an adult and I’d have to say it was not a very good theatre. I only went there if I had to, which thankfully was only a few times. I mainly remember the seats being very uncomfortable.
The building was converted to a 24 Hour Fitness.
1st movie I watched at Lakewood South 9 was “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” 1985 Re Release
Last movie I watched at Lakewood South 9 was “The Strangers” which was a week before the theater closed
I got to see so many good movies here and it goes to show you good things dont last
June 12th, 1981 grand opening ad in photo section. No grand opening ad found for the December 11th, 1992 expansion.
When Pacific Theatres operated this theatre as a tri-plex the seating capacities were 318, 318, 340.
I went to a few movies here in the early nineties. I agree, not much of a moviegoing experience. It won’t be missed.
Frankly, I’m surprised this place lasted as long as it did, after the opening of the 16 screens up the parking lot.
I TAP’d this theatre a couple times during the late 1990s, and while there was never anything ever wrong with the place on a technical level during my visits, I hated going there because it just had zero charm.
Pacific Theatres Lakewood Center South 9 is now closed. Last day of operation was Thursday June 26, 2008.
