Opened in November 2000 by Palace Cinemas in the heart of downtown Prague, ten auditoriums and 1,839 seats were integrated into the Slavic House. First mentioned in 1381 and later used as a reception hall for parties and balls, the huge Baroque/Art Nouveau landmark complex was reconstructed and the facade restored. Foundations were dug out so that some of the auditoriums could be placed down below. In addition to films, Palace Slovansky dum regularly hosts musical performances, both live and taped. The main floor of the shopping mall has a popular cafe and at the top level is the Cinema Bar. By 2014 it had been taken over by Cinema City International and re-named Cinema City Slovansky dum.

Wait, the main floor might be that of another Palace cinema, though it looks like this one, too.
This chain has another theater with 10 screens also in Prague 1. I was very fortunate to see Stae of Play there in English with Czech sub titles. The interesting thing about movie theatres there are all seats are reserved like the old roadshow days. My partner and I didn’t know and when people came and said we were in there seats we had to move. The tehater was state of art with stadium seating, dolby digital sound and wall to wall screens. It was a great experience.
Palace Slovanský dům is nowadays Cinema City Slovanský dům. Exterior and lobby photos from May 2010 (as Palace) and from February 2014 (as Cinema City).
