The Rialto Theatre opened October 19, 1919 with Dorothy Gish in “The Girl from Outside”. It is listed as operating in editions of Film Daily Yearbook through to 1957. It was later used as a nightclub. By 2017 it was an ice-cream parlor.

The backstage area of the theater collapsed and the nightclub owners shortened the building and made a back patio. The Moda nightclub closed when the owner was convicted of drug dealing. The building is currently closed. The community has resisted efforts to put another nightclub in because the last one was such a bloody nuisance.
An article in the June 15, 1959, issue of Boxoffice described an ad for the Rialto’s grand opening that was published in the Cleveland Leader of Sunday, October 19, 1919. The house had probably opened a few days earlier. The first feature shown was “The Girl from Outside” with Dorothy Gish. The Boxoffice article said that the Rialto had closed in 1957.

The former Rialto theatre/Moda night club building was renovated and is now home to Mitchell’s Homemade Ice Cream.
