The Liberty Theatre was opened prior to 1921. It later showed mostly “B” movies. By 1967 it was screening soft-core adult movies and was operating as the Liberty Art Cinema.

The Liberty Theatre in McKeesport was in operation by 1921, when it was mentioned in the September 10 issue of Exhibitor’s Trade Review.

In the summer of 1967 it was advertising in the Monessen Valley Independent as the Liberty Art Cinema and showing softcore X-rated films like the Art Cinema in downtown Pittsburgh.

The Liberty was still showing regular films in early 1966. In the January-February 1966 timeframe I saw the double feature “Man From U.N.C.L.E.” films “The Spy With My Face” and “To Trap a Spy” at the Liberty.
