Opened as the Frisina Theatre on December 20, 1946, it was designed by architect Cletis R. Foley. It was closed in 1959. On November 10, 1978 it was twinned, reopening as the Twin Cinema 1 & 2. The second screen was located in the former balcony. It was taken over by Kerasoates Theatres on May 23, 1983. It was closed by AMC on July 28, 2011.
By 2014 it was renamed Taylorville Cinema.

AMC closed the Cinema on July 28th, 2011. The next day would mark the first day Taylorville has had no movie screen since the mid 1920’s.

Typo in the description/name history – the correct spelling is ‘Frisina’. For a picture from the early ‘70s, when it was still a store, go to: http://gis.hpa.state.il.us/hargis/ and enter 'Frisina Building’ in the search bar. At least there’s a good excuse for the current entry, since the store destroyed the old one.
