Planet Cinema

Located in the Preston district of Melbourne at High Road, Preston Junction. The Planet Cinema opened on 31st March 1939 with Mickey Rooney in “Love Finds Andy Hardy”. It was designed by architect R.A. Le-Poer Terry.

It closed in late-1959 and since then it has been used as a silver plating workshop and then a moror car showroom. It was last in use as a motor accessories retail store and workshop, latterly known as ACE. In 2009, the building was in use as a furniture store. It was demolished in early-2012.

Went inside the building recently and found there is nothing visible of the original interior.It is now being used as a furniture showroom.

The site is now a nail salon(Pandora Nails & Beauty) and a clothing store(Wired for beads).
