First advertisement appeared on July 5, 1968 with “How To Save A Marriage”, but was unconfirmed if that is the correct opening date.
The Pocono Record confirmed that it was remodeled in April 1975, and yes, the Casino Theatre closed after it was sold in 2021. It was converted into a Vietnamese restaurant in May 2022.
According to Wikipedia the Casino Theater in Mt Pocono Pa was sold in 2021. The family wanted to retire. The building was remodeled into a Vietnamese Restaurant named Saigon 3. Wikipedia has the history of the Casino.
The Casino Theatre opened in 1968 as a seasonal family-oriented theater, running a mix of first and second-run films. Its format would later flip to just first-run films only. In its later years, films were shown four-to-five-days-a-week instead of the usual seven-days in the 1980s.
Monroe County PA just went through a massive renumbering over the past two years. 1401 is the new number, however since Google Maps only got our county numbered correctly just a few years prior, it will probably be a long time before they have the correct numbers again.
Yes, that is very strange.
A very cute place although showing its age. It’s also a bit odd that the screens are placed at an angle, with the projection booth being in the center of the original non-twinned theater so that the movie is displayed corner to corner in the rooms rather than center back to center front as in most theaters.
