I believe this was originally built in 1955 as a bowling alley, as the building was originally known as Boleras Tony. It was later converted into a cafeteria, bar, offices and cinema. To achieve this the roof of the building was raised. It is located to the west of the city centre in the Vedado district on Calle 23 between O & P streets.
Access to the auditorium, which is on the first floor, is via a ramp, rather than by stairs and this section of Calle 23 is known as ‘La Rampa’. It is considered one of the best cinemas in Cuba for projection and sound quality. In the summer of 2015 it was announced that the Cine La Rampa would be equipped with digital projection. The Cine Yara and Cine Charlie Chaplin were the first Cuban cinemas to have digital projection in early-2015.

The theatre was not named for its architectural features. La Rampa (the ramp) is the popular name for the sloping stretch of 23rd Street between L street and Malecón, where the theatre is located.
Hi, does anyone out there know what the name of the cinema Errol Flynn co-owned in Havana was?
jrpollo, Right about the name. It had a second entrance from the “Wakamba” restaurant on O Street. I remember seeing quite a few European movies there, Giulietta Masina in “La Strada” and “Nights of Cabiria”, Ingmar Bergman’s “Through a Glass Darkly”, “Winter Light” and “The Silence”, Federico Fellini and Vittorio De Sica films, Gina Lollobrigida in “Pane, amore e fantasia” and “Pane, amore e gelosia”, Brigitte Bardot movies.
The lobby was wallpapered in a realistic knotty-pine design. This theater is erroneously positioned on the street map in El Cerro, it was located on 23 Street between O and P in Vedado.
