It was a matter of time since they closed all their other locations. Maybe another chain will come in

Thanks mOOse1111. Glad they are still open. I grew up there. Happy that the Tower is still in operation as a concert venue and the old 69th St after being closed for over 40 years is reopened for church plays.

today’s Inquirer article on 2 hotels opening in Upper Darby has the following paragraph: In 2015, Studio Movie Grill opened a $6 million state-of-the-art digital theater complex with nine theaters and 900 reclining seats. H&M, Gap, Old Navy, Fresh Grocer, Ross, and Burlington Coat Factory also have opened in the 69th Street area in recent years.

My advice to the new management, security, security, security! I am not being cynical but if you let a patronage of individuals, whom you cannot reason with, destroy this theater as they did with the UA and the UA Cheltenham. The Cinemark on 40th St, has a curfew to keep little hellions out of the theater after 9:00 PM.

Great news Howard. The area is coming back with this opening and the old 69th Street theater now Theater 7000 and of course long live the Tower.

I grew up in the area and this was the palce we went to the movies on Saturday. We had 3 great old movie theaters in Uopoer Darby, the Tower, which is stillopen as a concert venue, the Terminal which was demolished when they remodeled the bus terminal and the Stanley Warner 69th St which closed around 1965 and is now a apartment building. Those were the good old days.

Just went to Regal’s web site and the theater is not showing. Up Regal does have a multiplex in NewTown Square which is probably why they closed this theater. It’s about 10 miles away and in a much better area.

This has now closed. Was it open on January 1st, 2013 or not. The Yelp reviews for this theatre was only one star.

I have a old Philadelphia Inquirer from June 1943 that has the Terminal Theatre as a William Goldman Theatre, and the Tower Theatre and 69th Street Theatre as a Stanley Warner Theatre. I would have to assume that in the early 1950’s Stanley Warner and William Goldman swapped the Terminal Theatre and the Tower Theatre

Growing up as a child there were 3 theaters in 69th st. The Tower, The Terminal and The 69th st. The Terminal and 69th St were Stanley Warner Theaters. The Tower was a William Goldman Theater. Evetually the Tower was sold to Ellis theaters. The 69th street closed in 1965 and had a brief reopening in 1982 as RAM 69th st. Due to handicap restrcitons the thetaer didn’t last. The Terminal was closed in the 90’s when they remodeled the bus terminal. It was run by the Sameric chain from the late 60’s until it’s closing.
