Opened as the Soboba Theater on September 2, 1927 with the California premiere of Cecil B. DeMille’s “The Country Doctor” plus six acts of vaudeville, and the opening was attended by Sid Grauman, who had recently opened his Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. It was built for two local businessmen Oscar Hofmann and Lester Reynolds. Designed in a Hopi Peublo style by Riverside based architect Frederic Johnson.
In around 1941 it was taken over by Bill Martin, manager of the Hemet Theater, and was renamed San Jacinto Theater. It closed around 1951 and the building burned down on December 16, 1968.

I really wouldn’t put either the appelation Deco or Moderne on this one. Simply, “Pueblo Revival.” Other than perhaps the reader board—and that only slightly—there really are no features visible which I would consider either Deco or Moderne.
