The Hemet Theatre opened on Thanksgiving Day 1921 with seating for 652. It was closed 26, 1995. It reopened under new operators in 2000. In January 2010 a fire in nearby stores forced the theatre to close. The theatre suffered some water damage, but was otherwise intact. The Hemet Theatre presents concerts and live theatre performances.

The Film Daily Yearbook 1941 gives a seating capacity of 650. The address given in the 1952 F.D.Y. is given as 200 E. Florida Avenue, Hemet, CA. Seating capacity 632.
There were attempts to turn the Hemet into a live theater venue in 2002, according to this article in the Press-Enterprise:
