Situated on the Upper East Side near E. 108th Street, the Verona Theatre first opened circa 1926-27. In the wake of the Depression, the late-run “indie” closed for a couple of years, and then re-opened around 1938 under the new name of Victory Theatre. By 1941, trade directories listed the Victory Theatre as closed, but it may have had a short life after that as the Rex Theatre.
The 1947 Film Daily Year Book lists the Rex Theatre as closed, but with an address of 2086 2nd Avenue and 1,100 seats. The similarities in address and seating capacity suggest that the Verona/Victory and the Rex were the same theatre.

My 1934 Film Daily Year book lists a Rex Theatre at 217 E. 67th Street which would place it near Second Avenue. It does not appear to be listed here.
Perhaps someone has more info on either Rex location.
This is already listed as the Victory in the 1937 Film Daily Year Book.
A New York Times 1941 article states that:
“The Verona Theatre at 2086-94 has been leased by Myiton L. Meltzer…”
This means the Rex Theatre (2094 Second Avenue) operating in 1944-1947 was indeed another name for the Verona.
