New multiplex at the upscale Hilldale shopping mall opened May 11, 2007. Sundance founder, actor Robert Redford insisted using recycled elements, local timber, and stone in its construction.

It specializes in art films and independent productions in six all-stadium seated auditoriums with plush seats, digital stereo surround sound and outstanding presentation. There are no advertisements presented in the theatres.

Other touches are the art gallery, bistro, bar, and coffee shop for refreshments and enlightenment.

This new theatre complex replaced the Hilldale Theatre (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures), an older art house at the back the same mall. It was announced in October 2022 that the theatre would be closing on December 31, 2022. It was closed early on December 1, 2022. It will be temporary opened for one week April 13-20 2023 for the Wisconsin Film Festival. It was announced in March 2023 that the building would be converted into a restaurant and retail space.

Recent redevelopment plans for the mall don’t include the theatre. AMC has not renewed their lease at this point.

Rumors have been floating around for a while that this will be closed, and it was recently made official: AMC 6 will close forever December 31, 2022, to make way for a new 2-floor retail project.
