Opened on December 19, 1925 with Mary Pickford in “Little Annie Rooney” plus a stage presentation by Fanchon & Marco. It was operated by West Coast Theatres, the 820-seat Imperial Theatre was a Fox house, like its adjoining larger neighbor the West Coast Theatre.
Mann Theatres closed the Imperial Theatre on August 7, 1977 with Barbra Streisand in “A Star is Born” & Gary Conway in “The Farmer”. The theatre was razed, like the West Coast Theatre, to make way for a new hotel complex.

The above picture in ken mc’s post is from around January 1932. The West Coast Theatre was playing “Stepping Sisters” (1/9/32) from Fox Film Corp. and the Imperial Theatre was playing “The False Madonna” (12/5/31) with Kay Francis & Conway Tearle from Paramount.
You can see the UA down the street as well.

The Imperial Theatre was part of the Fox West Coast Theatre chain from the mid 1920’s through National General Cinemas to Mann Theatres which closed the house in August 1977. It went independent after that year.
