in houston ,tx on 11th street about 700 block the building has all appearance of a theatre. would you know the name its in the heights area.
The theater is temporarily closed. No reason given on their website.
It’s temporary, according to them. I’ll check back in a week or so.
This is now split among a few retail and office suites, including a medical care center, Armed Forces recruiting and a nail salon.
This theater still seems to be intact. It has a sign on the front that says it is available for lease. The actual zip code for this address is 78410.
A powerful windstorm struck this building in May. The roof was badly damaged and the sign was blown away. The roof was repaired, but apparently the sign is gone for good.
Opened as Cinema 5 on November 16th, 1984. Grand opening ads posted.
Movie One Theaters operated the Five Points Theater. Silver Cinemas took on the chain in December of 1996 and operated here both as a first-run and discount house. Silver Cinemas appears to have left the venue in 2003. It operated independently thereafter but advertisements ceased in 2007 - about the time when a high-profile incident took place at the cinema undoubtedly leading to negative publicity. The venue stayed in a frozen state vacant for more than ten years as a ghost cinema. But, finally, in 2020 the theater space was retrofitted becoming a gym / fitness center.
