Located in Niskayuna, to the south of Schenectady. The Mohawk Mall Cinema was opened on December 25, 1970 as a twin screen cinema, screening Albert Finney in “Scrooge” & John Wayne in “Rio Lobo”. Each screen had 350-seats. In the mid-1970’s an adjacent health club was converted into a 3rd screen with 500-seats. It became a 7-plex on December 6, 1985. Loew’s Theatres took over in 1988 and they closed it in July of 1999.

The Mohawk Mall Cinema opened as a twin (350 seats each) in 1970 by Carroll’s Development Corporation. In the mid 70’s, they leased the adjacent former health club and turned it into a third auditorium, seating 500. Cinema 3 had its own separate entrance, box office, and concession stand. In 1985 the theater, now operated by CinemaNational, expanded to a 7-plex. The new building connected the existing three theaters. The theater was purchased by USA Cinemas in 1987, then by Loews in 1988. It closed in July 1999 and was demolished along with the rest of the mall. The Mohawk Commons lifestyle center is now on the property.
The four added theatres were approximately 200 seats each. The addition allowed for a unified lobby with a long L shaped concession stand. The entrance was from the rear of the mall, with an interior mall entrance that joined to the exterior one.
Mike Aidala was the one constant at this property, working for all owners and retiting as district manager. Other local properties that belonged to the chain included the Plaza Theatre on Troy-Schenectady Road and the Rotterdam Square Mall Theatre.
