Attended a showing of the 3rd Pirates of the Carribbean movie this past week. The movie theater was great. Large auditorium, pretty clean, decent prices. However, the place was EMPTY. I am afraid this place will not be open much longer. The Kennedy Mall Theaters across the street look as if they have gone out of business as well.
The timeline is a little off. The expansion to 8 screens was done in the late 80s/early 90s and the stadium seating renovation never came.
This theatre opened as the Kennedy Road Cinema. This needs tobe added to the previous name list.
This opened with one cinema in 1968. 2 in 1969, 3 in 1973, 4 in 1979, 5 in 1982, 8 in 1985 S. It became part of the Excellence Theatres in 1988 and Carmike in 1991. Closed in 2008.
