Stopped at the Noodles & Company next to this theatre yesterday and saw a retail space for lease sign in the window. My sense is there is not much interest in reopening the space as a cinema.

Cinemax of Mexico is the parent company CMX cinema, thus the they use they use the abbreviated version of their name
Does CMX stand for anything?
This opened on December 17th, 1999. Its grand opening ad can be found in the photo section for this cinema.
The new owners, Paragon got rid of the dine-in and installed recliners. Running a kitchen proved to be very expensive according to the Yelp review for this cinema.

I came here tonight with my wife to see American Sniper. They did a wonderful job redoing this theater. It now has dining and drink options a bar in the lobby and comfortable seating. My tip to anyone who goes is to get to your show early. Seats fill up fast due to the reduced seating. But hey, you can always hang out at the bar!

As of Monday 7/9/12, this theatre is closed. (I don’t know if Saturday or Sunday was the last day.)
The Cinema cafe is known as Dippin' Dots Ice cream.

Scott, the ACI photo must be of the original Arlington Theatre, which got a complete makeover in 1962, as described in the May 28 issue of Boxoffice that year. I’ll link to the Boxoffice article on the first Arlington’s page.
American Classic Images shows this picture of this Arlington Theatre as Arlington Heights, IL. I see no reference to another theatre in Arlington Heights, IL either here or on Cinematour.

Either way, while this theater is nice for it’s relatively low costs, I think a matinee is only like 7 bucks, it’s DEFINITELY showing it’s age. I go here all the time, and on one date I actually fixed the stairway lighting just by kicking a piece back in place. Of course some of the next patrons to walk the steps re-broke it, but can’t blame them really. Also, the TERRIBLE concession stand video, which seems straight out of the 80’s, has SO much wear that it’s almost unwatchable now. They briefly went to an underwater themed one, but that didn’t last long and soon they were back at the “futuristic city” video. This place NEEDS some work done ASAP before it falls into disrepair and people stop attending it.
