The Liberty Theatre was opened in 1919 as a live stage theater. It underwent an extensive remodel and was converted to show movies from April 1923. The theatre closed for three years, but was reopened by Jerry Earp, and was restored as closely to its original condition as possible.

The Liberty Theatre began running movies in April 1923 after an extensive remodel, which also includes original installations of the Gardiner Velvet & Gold Fiber Screen that was also used in many theaters in New York City at the time.
