Cinema World was adjacent to the Century III Mall in Pleasant Hills (outside Pittsburgh) along Route 51 South. It was opened on July 6, 1973. It was closed in April 1987, and torn down in the late-1980’s to make room for a Toys R Us store.

Closed around 1987 after Cinemette opened the nearby Southland 9.
Yes, it closed in April 1987. I remember that quite well because I was working there at the time it closed. There were a lot of tears when they tore that place down (which they did rather quickly, as I recall)!
It really was a nice little theater. When you walked in the front doors, the box office was right there in front. After you paid, you went right around and the concession was right in the middle of the lobby against the back wall (right behind the box office). There were 4 screens, 2 on the left side of the lobby and 2 on the right. There was one hallway that ran the length of the building in the back where the bathrooms were.
Unfortunately, I have no idea how many seats there were, but I think each screen had the same number of seats (not like today’s theaters, where some screens have a large capacity and some are smaller).
There is a theater that is still open in Norwin, PA (may be Irwin) on Route 30 that is an almost exact replica of the Century III theater. I just love it.
Does anyone have a photo of this theater? I would really love to see one! Working there was the best job I have ever had!
I know there are photos of the CW at the Carengie library in Oakland.
Each of the Cinema World auditoriums had 304 seats.

The last film I saw here was “Pretty in Pink” in 1986! But for some reason, all I can remember is the outside of the building. I cannot remember ANY of the inside. I would love to see photos!
