Opened in September 1930, the Grand Theatre was located on S. State Street in downtown Preston. The theatre seated 452 when it opened, it was operated by Intermountain Theaters until it closed in 1955. It was renovated and reopened reopened by an independent operator in 1956 who also operated the Isis Theatre. The Grand Theatre was still open in January 1978.
By 2017 it was operating as Worm Creek Opera House, still a movie theatre but with a reduced 211-seat capacity.
There was a second theatre on State Street operated by Intermountain called the Isis Theatre, but I could find no information on the Isis Theatre.

I found the Grand Theatre at Preston mentioned in the January 3, 1978 issue of Boxoffice, which gave the name of its manager as Glen Peterborg. Back on February 26, 1956, Boxoffice had run a short item about the renovation of the Grand, which had new paneling and flooring in the lobby and a new concession stand. The Grand and Isis were under the same ownership at the time, and both houses were managed by L.J. “Jim” Ward.

This theater’s auditorium was used in Napolean Dynamite. I serviced the booth there on and off for several years. I will send in some pictures as soon as I find them.
