The Cinema I Springfield Theatre was opened by Budco Theatres on September 25, 1964. This theatre was located on Baltimore Pike and Sproul Road, in Springfield.
In 1975, Budco twinned this theatre.
In January 1992, AMC Theatres (successors to Budco Theatres) closed this theatre, mainly due to the close proximity of the recently opened AMC Marple 10 Theatre, which was a mile west of the Springfield on Sproul Road.

I saw 2 movies there in the late 70’s Dracula was one and I don’t rememebr the other. I do rememebr both were shown in flat. I saw one film there after it was twined, Bobby Deerfield.

George, you are correct. i just looked on Historic Aerial, and the east wall of Office depot was right near where the west wall of the AMC Springfield Twin/Budco Cinema I Springfield was.
This opened on September 25th, 1964. The grand opening ad is in this theatre’s photo section.
Was it originally a William Goldman Theater?
Cinema I Springfield (AKA AMC Springfield Twin) was never owned by William Goldman Theatres. The photo mentions Budco Quality Theatre when it opened on 9/25/1964.

This theater actually closed in January of 1992….
I use to go there in the 70s/80s. I saw Superman 2 there. I think its where I saw Logans Run also.
