Mansfield Movieplex is located in the East Brook Mall in Mansfield, CT. It opened in 2004. The auditoriums on the left hand side have stadium seating with reclining chairs and cupholder liftable armrests and a frontal six rows. The auditorium on the right hand side are the smallest I have been in and just have six rows. The theatre opened in the space formerly occupied by The Hoot and Eblens in the west wing of the mall.
The theatre has a small arcade next to the concession stand and it only has a mall entrance so now all mall doors remain unlocked until the last movie gets out. The theater makes up for the lack of quality movie theatres in the area. Cinema North also owns the Willimantic Movieplex 2 miles down the road.
Cinema North closed the Mansfield Movieplex on March 16, 2009 and it was reopened on April 10, 2009 by the Zurich Cinema Group.

The theatre should do well in the East Brook Mall for several reasons:
1. It is the closest first-run movie theatre to both University of CT in Storrs 10 miles away and Eastern CT State University 2 miles away.
2. It is located in the area’s only indoor shopping mall and the mall draws traffic from its anchor stores JC Penney, TJ Maxx, and the newest Kohl’s. Although the mall is one of the smallest I have been there are few closed retail spaces.
3. It further solidifies East Brook Mall as a place where one can have a night out – shopping, restaurants, and a movie.

…and it is still OPEN.
Probably one of the strangest theatres I’ve been to. The 4 (1-4) theatres facing the concession stand have stadium seating, and reclining chairs. The theatres on the right (5-8) behind the concession stand have old school sloped seating with a center aisle, non reclining seats. At least the screens are decent in these smaller houses. (They have side masking) It seems that they were either cheap, or ran out of money while designing this place.
Still open and operating normally 9 years later. JCPenney has closed since then, leading the cinemas becoming the pull to go to the EBM.
