Lafayette Theatre

The Lafayette is unique in that it is one of a few theatres built in the 1930s still reeling on a single screen.

What’s the story? It is listed in the Macon County registry as a commercial theater.

Got ya. Cinema Treasures was having problems with their main frame during the time I was initially entering this information. Thanks for making the correction on the heading.
Still would appreciate any additional information on the Lafayette.

I believe this house might have opened in 1939 as the Macon Theatre. The Tennessee news column of the July 8, 1939 issue of Boxoffice said that “[t]he Mason, [sic] a new theater at Lafayette, opened July 4.” Lafayette being such a small town it seems unlikely that two new theaters would have been opened there in the 1930s.
