Opened in 1902 as Beck’s Theatre. It was briefly renamed Metropolitan Theatre on October 3, 1912. On October 7, 1915 the upper balcony was replaced by a projection booth and the name was changed to the American Theatre. This theatre closed in 1958 and was demolished shortly afterwards. The Pacific Coast Architecture Database says that Beck’s Theatre in Bellingham was designed by architect Edwin W. Houghton.
This website has a September 1922 J.W. Sandison photo of the American Theatre advertising Norma Talmadge in “The Eternal Flame”. Sandison’s studio was nest door to the Liberty Theatre also in Bellingham. (Link added to the Liberty page too.)

Found the first ad as American on October 7th, 1915 and closed in 1958. It was renamed Metropolitan for a short time starting on October 3rd, 1912. Opened as Beck’s.
