Opened on May 24, 1972 with Franco Nero in “Confessions of a Police Captain”. It was operated by the Community Circuit Theaters chain, and the Showplace Theater was one of the last single screen theaters built in the greater Cleveland area. It was located in a small shopping center at the corner of Euclid Avenue and Som Center Road; the entrance to the center was on Euclid Avenue.
It had a very small sign and marquee at the center’s main entrance; the theater itself was in a building to the left of the center’s main entrance driveway.
In the late-1970’s it was taken over by Loews. Its life as a theater was brief closing in 1984. It had a very small lobby but had a large though spartan auditorium with a large screen. The building today houses a number of retail operations and there is no trace on the exterior that a theater ever existed there.

Just want to let you know the auditorium of this theater was destroyed by and explosiont a few years aftwer it cloesed. It was used has a craft store til then.
It opened under the auspices of Community Circuit Thetres, which was bought out by Loews in the late 1970s. It closed as ‘Loews Showplace’ .
