The Art Theatre in Hobart, Indiana opened August 27, 1941. Opening day movie was “One Night in Lisbon” with Fred MacMurray. The Art Theater remains open today as a live music venue and also programs classic & revival movies.

Actually the spelling of theatre vs theater is this:
The building is usually spelled theater
The craft of performance is spelled theatre
as in “I took a theatre arts class in the theater building.)
I agree with LM. After a lot of discussion elsewhere, the consensus was that American theaters would be listed as such, while European houses would be theatres or cinemas, as the case may be. This is a rather straightforward way to avoid confusion.
To help make ends meet a little better the new management of the Art has now started Saturday night Midnight showings of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” and recently won the approval to serve liquor which is leading the way to have live performances and comedy shows. In fact the Art recently had a comedy night on Saturday which I found interesting that they would postpone what you would figure to be their busiest movie night of the week.
