This is a very large, modern multi-plex on the Northwest Side of Chicago. It was built on the site of a Goldblatt’s Department Store that had been abandoned for about six years and that the City had been trying to get rid of.
The City North 14 is one of a few theatres that had been constructed for General Cinema immediately prior to that chain being taken over by AMC (Ford City and Randhurst are two other examples). It opened December 17, 1999 and features stadium seating and parking for nearly 1,000 cars.
In June of 2006, the City North 14 was acquired by Kerasotes Theatres after the merger between AMC and Loews. On May 25, 2010, Regal took over operation, as AMC acquired various Kerasotes theatres and in turn sold this one to Regal.
