Seneca Twin Theatre

Built in 1927 and opened as the Liberty Theatre. This theater was built on the site of a former Opera House that was constructed in the 1890’s. Moving pictures were shown at the Opera House as early as 1909.

In 1927 the decision was made to replace the Opera House with a “modern movie theatre”. The Liberty Theatre was remodeled around 1951 and at that time the name was changed to the Seneca Theatre.

On Cinema Tour there is an art deco Seneca Theatre in Salamanca NY. The architects were John AND Drew Eberson! If anyone has additional information and/or photos, please add that western NYS theatre.

I was in town twice, and it was nasty weather both times. Never got a good picture of this one.
