The Hazleton Drive-In was located ten miles north of Hazleton on Route 309 in the village of Drums, PA. It opened on May 1, 1948 with Brian Donlevey in “Barbary Coast”. It was closed around 1980 and had one of the largest outdoor screens in the area. The entrance and exit both had large box shaped neon structures advertising the theatre name and a large marquee was positioned near the entrance. It had a capacity of 400 cars.
After closing, the screen remained unused for a number of years until a shopping plaza was built in the early-1990’s.

I saw “Planet of the Apes” there in the summer of 1970.

Mountain Blvd has been renamed Hunter Hwy.
Not a drive in, but if you look at an aerial and go north a couple miles to 214 N Hunter Hwy, Drums, PA 18222 on the east side of the road you can see the remnants of Angela Park, an amusement park that closed in 1987. Not much left but concrete pads.
This opened on May 1st, 1948. Grand opening ad posted.
A more accurate address for this theater is now 174 S Hunter Hwy. Drums PA 18222. This points to where the drive in entrance was located.
