The Mecca was in business from at least 1926 (earliest reference I could find) until 1950. It was operated by the Shields Theatres from 1946 (possibly earlier) until 1950.

The address of Mail Run, LLC (current tenant) is: 105 S. Grand. The appearance of the building at 105 S. Grand (uploaded to this site) match the historical photos from the Oklahoma Historical Society archives.

Don’t think it was always a black theater. The book America Goes to the Movies has a picture of the Mecca showing The Story of Alexander Graham Bell starring Don Ameche. A 1939 film.

Listed in the Film Daily Yearbook’s 1941 and 1943 editions, it has a seating capacity of 500.

From 1949-1955 it is listed as being a Negro theatre, seating given in 1950 is 534.
