The Oakwood 5 Theatre was opened on February 29, 1984, first operated by Carmike Cinemas and featured five screens and showing first-run films. Carmike closed the theatre in January 2000. Taken over by Dickinson Theatres in 2005, and a further three screens were added. It then passed to Starplex Cinemas. It was taken over by AMC December 16, 2015. It was closed on December 19, 2021.

The Oakwood 5 Theatre lease was sold by Leroy Mitchell to Carmike Cinemas while under construction. Carmike opened the theatre and operated it for several years before opting out of their lease from mall owners. Dickinson Theatres has re-opened the theatre.

Carmike briefly closed the Oakwood 5 in January 2000 because of its lease, leaving their Video Twin Theatre (which will have its own CT page soon) as the only operating movie theater in Enid for several years until the Oakwood’s reopening by Dickinson Theatres in 2005.
The Oakwood Mall in Enid opened on February 29th, 1984 and safe to assume that the cinemas opened at this time.
