The Folly Theatre was opened prior to 1907. In the early-1940’s, the Folly Theatre was operated by Paramount Pictures Inc. through their subsidiary Joe Cooper & Warner Bros. It was destroyed by a fire in 1947. Warner Bros. built their new Sooner Theatre on the site using some of the Folly Theatre foundations.

An exceptionally clear, antique postcard view (plate #32) of the Folly Theatre can be seen in the book “THE VANISHED SPLENDOR, Postcard Views of Early Oklahoma City”, by Jim Edwards and Hal Ottaway, Abalache Book Shop Publishing.
From the Oklahoma County Tax Assessor Office comes this vintage picture postcard view of the Folly Theatre (photo center), white structure with stud lighted, arched entrance.

My grandfather was the pianist/organist at the Folly Theater in OKC in the early 40’s. I have tons of stories….that is how he met my grandmother, she loved to hear him play, so she stayed to watch him finish. They dated, married….and then there is me.
Anyone know how to get more info on the Folly in OKC? Like about the organists? I would love that.
