Mayfair Theatre

The Mayfair Theatre was opened by 1929. By 1957 it was operated by Liggett-Florin Booking Service. Second run neighborhood house closed by Warner Brothers in the late-1950’s in favor of the larger Stanley Theater a couple of blocks away. Ironically, the Stanley Theater became economically unfeasible to operate a few scant years later and was converted to a cultural center. The Mayfair Theatre building became a bowling alley. It is now in retail use.

Joe’s Market at 1011 S. Orange looks big enough to have held 1021 seats. It could be the former Mayfair:
