Located on Pitkin Avenue near Montauk Avenue, the Montauk Arcade Theatre opened in 1914. The Montauk Theatre was closed in 1929, and was converted into a retail store. A property search shows that currently a church is located at this address.

As I explained under the Ridgewood Theatre listing:
“There were five theatres in Brooklyn—at various times—operating under the name Montauk (one was legit). In addition to these, there was the Montauk Arcade at 2540 Pitkin. A theatre belonging to William Fulmer is listed at this address in 1912-1913. The name of the theatre is not given. By 1914, it is finally listed as the Montauk Arcade (sc. 500). It is listed in the 1926-29 FDYBs (don’t have 1930), sometimes just as the Montauk. Closed shortly after that."
This theatre was probably always the Montauk Arcade with the FDYB leaving out a part of its name.
As concerns the five Montauks. I have already provided information for the one on Bath Avenue—Montauk aka Deluxe. I haven’t had time to check for the others on this site. Not listed as Montauk but could appear under "Comments”.Almost forgot, there was also the New Montauk Theatre.

According to an article in the NY Times dated September 17, 1895 a theater opened in Brooklyn called “The Montauk Theater,” but no address is given. It does say that, “The theater seats comfortably 1,750 persons,” and the first performance was the opera, “Il Trovatore.”
Check google … There is no theatre at this location or near it … It should be listed as demolished.
I just found this website. My great grandfather, William B Fulmer, owned the Montauk Theater as well as the Montauk Arcade. They were separate entities in different addresses on Pitkin. I have his letterhead, old programs, and advertising about both of the locations.
Welcome to the site Tfulmer ….. The Brooklyn Theatre Index confirms the 1929 closing date and provides info about the c of o that converted it to a retail store in 1930. Apparently, Mrs. Fuller still owned the property at that time ….. Finally, while the theater opened under the Montalk Arcade Theatre name in 1914, during 1912 and 1913 it is listed as a movie house under the name of William Fuller. So, did this place first come into life as the William Fuller Theatre?
Re a comment above from 2005, I found a picture of the New Montauk, on Livingston St, on Brooklyn Pics. Still hasn’t made it to CT.
Turns out the New Montauk never showed movies so doesn’t qualify for CT
