I’m very curious about that cupola/turret, is there a set of stairs up to there?

Some of the best years of my youth were spent at this theatre. Is there another adult theatre close to NYC? There’s got to be another place like this theatre once was. Does anyone know?

I must be honest here. I truly miss the Little Theatre and my trips to Newark. I had so much fun at the theatre. I was young, full of life, full of energy. At 58, I deeply yearn for those days again.

nycman, I was a projectionist at 2 porn theatres from 1978 till 1990. The Sayrewoods in Old Bridge and Cinema 9 in Sayreville. Those were interesting times, Ill give you that.

I will agree with you on one thing Teddybear35, I wouldnt live in Newark either. I wasnt crazy working there before the virus hit. You are right though. A lot of new buildings and old ones being renovated.

Here’s the real reason why they closed because new buildings are coming to Newark and parents with kids claimed they were afraid to walk around the area because seedy characters would be lurking hanging out front and families claimed they were afraid their kids might get kidnapped and rapped thus this place had to go. I must admit none of that nonsense is true but in attempts to redeveloped Newark and attract new tenants to the area the little theatre had to go. I get it but the reality is Newark has a dark cloud hanging over it and no matter the changes I personally wouldn’t live there. At least the previous owner made a ton of money before selling. I wonder if they’ll turn the little theatre into an office or apt building and the new tenants will never know this was once a hot spot for sex and blowjobs.

It doesn’t appear that “the government” closed this theatre, so your assertion that you are being forced back into the closet is baseless.

My old local was the same misterrick. I worked at 2 porn houses, and 2 General Cinemas, as well as an independent, all at the same time. One day here, one day there. Thats how us youngins used to make our money in the late 70’s and early 80’s.

Here’s a piece of trivia that I’m sure none of you knew, the Motion Picture Machine Operators Union ran their local out of the 2nd floor of this theater and it’s funny not only did they represent the projectionists at a few porn houses but also at most if not all of the major theater chains in Northern New Jersey including Cineplex Odeon, General Cinema and United Artists. Prior to moving to Newark the union was based in an adjacent office in the projection booth at the Millburn Theater in Millburn which I believe was around 1986-1987. The union has since been disbanned.

My, things have been very quiet here.
I am here to ask a question, since I live just south of the Linden airport, I used to frequent Cinema 9 on Route 9.
Does anyone know of a place similar in activity to Cinema 9, preferable in central or south New Jersey?
I really miss that place.
