It’s good to see Seaford has reopened since Merrick Cinemas has closed. It still looks the same after it reopened & very well kept. It’s the cheapest place to see a movie nowadays-$9 for most shows $5 matinees. The staff is nice & very accommodating. It’s worth the trip.
please update Open reopening tomorrow. grand reopening ad in photos
No recording now for the theatre. Still, theoretically, temporarily closed.
Please update, theatre opened May 26, 2000 and the additional 2 screens on October 28, 2005. No Grand Opening ads. Presently, theatre still hasn’t reopened yet.
According to their recording the theatre is closed due to unseen circumstances. Doesn’t sound promising.
Please update, theatre opened in 2000, expanded at 2005 to 8 screens
See the facebook page of this theater. It is under new management. More details to come.
This theater maybe closed. It is not listed on the BCG website and no answer when you called the theater
Despite the address being on Merrick Road, the entrance is actually from the parking lot in the rear of the building. When it was the site of various retail businesses, there was also an entrance directly on Merrick Road.
Re Ken’s 2009 posting the Bar Harbour Theatre opened in the Bar Harbour shopping center. It has it’s own blurb on CT.
Have they altered any of the original screens to have stadium seating?
Everybody could be wrong. That’s we call these discussions.
Right, says it was opened in 2000 and was never a theater previously. That may or may not be correct, since this article at least suggests that there was a prior mall theater in Seaford.
The first two posters weren’t sure if this was a re-opened theater. I think Seaford Cinemas was also in a shopping mall, so there may be a connection.
Boxoffice magazine reported in May 1960 that a new theater was planned in the Bar Harbor Shopping Center near Seaford.
The theatre is now owned by Boston Culinary Group.
Wow! I grew up in the 60s and 70s near Seaford and this theater didn’t exist.
I wish it had……
Please update the listing to show 8 screens. My friend’s wife was in that theatre a couple of weeks ago & she was in theatre 7. They just added 2 more stadium seated auditoriums to this theatre.
Gerry, did they cut two of the theaters in half to make the 8, or did they build onto the building?
Try an email to the webmasters. I don’t know if they read every message posted in eavery theater.
If it has expanded to 8 screens. Please update the listing to show 8.
I think this has expanded to 8 screens. I was there last year when it was 6.
It appears that Fritz has used DracuGoth charm to hypnotize his latest victims. :)
fritz was fired then, rehired when boston concessions came in. he is not one of my favorite people.
jacey…. the theater was Mid Island Dept Store for a very long time, and then a burlington coat factory for a solid year or so. Im pretty sure there was a Big and Tall Dept Store there too.
I am just glad that I do not have to picket there anymore. Fritz is still there???
