Uploaded new photos of the 4DX screen 12 in the photos section. Theatre still operating with 2 4DX screens, don’t know if Screen X will ever come.

This was Regal 3 renovation of the theatre and theatre 12 is 296 which is 4DX. Please update current total seats is now 1590. The updated seat count with additional seating due to RPX and 4DX getting more seats.

As for ScreenX, it might come later in the future, along with a bar. Regal spent a lot on this conversion, and I think the budget must have been used up (considering they just came out of bankruptcy protection too).

Technically, the only “Loews” thing left is the Guest Services desk and sign. And the bathrooms on one side were not redone, but not necessarily “Loews” style. I believe they we’re remodeled once before when Regal first took over.

What’s the seating capacity of “the world’s largest 4DX auditorium?”

It looks like this theatre not getting Screen X like Union Squre, they took down the sign in the lobby and posted photos of the construction. No more Loews anywhere in the complex.

The theater is now the site of the world’s largest 4DX auditorium, and the only location in North America with two 4DX installations:

Update: they found a fix for the window boxed scope image in the RPX. It looks to me that they altered the size of the screen although I might be wrong. In any event, the image now fills the entire screen.

Theatre 12 was the original 70MM house for Hateful 8 and Dunkirk.

February 29th 2024 Theater is basically complete. They may go back in the future and redo the bathrooms on the other side of the complex, put in a bar, and changeover theater 2 to the promised screen x, but the theater is otherwise redone.

As a long time moviegoer to this theater over the years, it really does look AWESOME.

All screens are now fixed with the proper masking again (except for the two largest theaters 12 & 13 which are fixed to scope masking only).

They boast theater 12 as being the world’s largest 4dx auditorium.

RPX (Theater 13) Update:

01/31/2024

RPX Screen is now reconfigured. So now, scope movies fill the entire screen. Flat movies are screen centered and fill screen top to bottom with black bars on the sides (no masking).

As far as I can tell like, the 4DX screen in theater 12 is widescreen scope (also no masking for flat features). I believe it fills the entire screen for scope movies.

Regal webpage shows Regal Times Square. They took out the 13

The number 13 is so associated with bad luck that I don’t know why any sane management would want to use it in naming a cinema.

With the new year upon us, 2024, and construction in its final stages, this theater has changed it’s name for it’s new snazzy look. As of this weekend, Friday January 5th 2024, the Regal E-Walk will now be named Regal Times Square!

They are now projecting scope movies “windowboxed” on that big, beautiful new scope screen in the RPX. I was told the screen is too big for the new projector to project an image big enough to fill the screen. So now the scope image has blank space all around it. THIS is a “premium experience???”

The new 4DX screen is substantially smaller than the screen that was in there before. They created larger entryways and needed space for the 4DX equipment. I would say that screen is maybe 40’ now as opposed to 60’ before.

Regal has destroyed this location with their “renovations.” Not only does it feature sloppy presentations but is also aesthetically ordinary. It’s a big black box with some neon accents. They’ve removed everything that made it unique from the big lobby with the mural on the ceiling, the whimsical circular concession stand to the very NYC specific murals on the walls and the big red curtain on the window looking onto 42 st, to the big beautiful marquee. It’s tragic. This place could now be located in a mall in Idaho. It is completely lacking in charm and character. Shame on Regal.

added photo of the new 4DX in Screen 12. Not yet open but looks like it will be for the busy holiday season.

The new 4DX is coming along. Screen 12 is still closed, but a wall was removed since last visit and a Pepsi 4DX sign is visible at the entrance. I probably could’ve stepped over/around the rope and taken a peek inside on Sunday.

Visited for the first time in a while to see a movie on the RPX. Which is, per prior comment, now much better for wide screen, 21 of my paces across. Comfortable with wide seats and legroom and bigger screen than across the street, and I may choose this RPX over the Empire’s Dolby Cinema moving forward. But hardly anyone coming, 25 people here for first night of a movie that had much larger crowds across the street. The place is mostly open but also mostly a construction zone with almost all of the David Rockwell interior for the Loews days now destroyed. Concession stand a work in progress. Some screens which still have carpeting from the old days. Screen 12 was closed off.

About the new RPX revamp in theater 13:

While the new RPX screen looks like it could have masking (screen is squared off by masking, instead of looking rounded at the ends and “free standing” like the usual floating screens). The movies playing so far, whether flat or scope, are still not masked. The advantage of this new screen is that scope movies are now have a better presentation. No longer are there “letterbox” bars at the and bottom. Only slight black on the sides. A more Fuller look. Slightly on the downside is that the old screen for flat movies filled the entire screen, but now is slightly pillarboxed in presentation. But you still have a large image onscreen. Much better for scope movies now.

August 7, 2023 update: I just uploaded a bunch of pictures of the new RPX auditorium, didn’t see a film today but took a peak inside. Theatre 12 is still closed, eventually the new 4DX House. The carpeting was installed in the hallway by theatres 8-10 section. Lower Level is still a construction zone.

The RPX seats look to narrow, I don’t think it was necessary to increase the capacity since AMC Dolby Cinema alway did much more business during playdating with RPX Atmos films.

The attendance is still more busier at the AMC Empire 25 over E-Walk even though the Empire seats are outdated. For example, I saw Sound of Freedom at 3:40PM at E-Walk only 3 customers while across the street at the AMC Empire 3:45PM show today had 27 people attending.

Very different RPX screen. I love it. Looks like they have masking too
