The Peafowl Theatre opened in 1915. The building was a residence that was converted to a movie theatre. From October 22, 1926 it was operating as an African-American theatre. The Peafowl Theatre closed in 1929. In recent years it has been in use as office space and by 2022 was an Italian restaurant.

Old family friend Delmas Jenkins told me he once went to the Peafowl and was terrified at the rough crowd in the place. At one point the manager came down the aisle cracking a bull whip to restore order!!!
Can you top that story?

Years ago I was on a tour bus that drove by this place and the driver said, “If you look closely, you can see the image of a pea fowl” but I never did see it- Has anyone out there been by to inspect the building for this image?
