Opened on September 9, 1950 and operated by Harry Wheeler. The opening movie was Randolph Scott in “Colt 45”. The Kanauga Drive-In remained open until 2008, operated by Harry’s son Tom. It had an 80-foot by 50-foot screen and a capacity for 400 cars. It was demolished in January 2011

It is definitely open. They were playing the Indiana Jones new movie just recently. I intend to go several times this summer in case it’s the last.

Shockley,
I too, am frustrated about the disconnected phone number. I have tried calling there several times this year. I have some friends in Point Pleasant, so I will talk one of them into driving by to see what the sign says, just for verification.

Here is a current pic of the Colony Theatre in Gallipolis. This phone is disconnected but maybe contacting the Colony could help.

Today, the outline, ramps, and part of the entrance ramp are the only remains of the drive-in.

And, although it is difficult to confirm with the Google Street photos, a light pole that sits just to the west of the power lines may also have been a part of the drive-in.

The actual opening date is September 9, 1950 with a one-day showing of Randolph Scott in “Colt 45” with no extra short subjects.
